My great-grandfather Sanik Ivan ermolaevich 1889-1973 G. Ivan ermolaevich was a blacksmith. In 1942 he went to the partisan unit named after Schorsa under the command of George Zvantsova. The detachment operated in the area between the Dnieper and Desna (Chernihiv, Ukraine). The squad defeated 13 enemy garrisons, and killed more than 2,000 Nazi soldiers and officers, blew up 19 bridges, derailed 9 trains, blew up 2 planes and 4 ammunition – causing significant damage to the Nazi invaders. His wife Mary V. was baking bread for the partisans. In 1947 my great-grandfather, neutralizing the projectile, was badly injured, he lost both eyes and left hand. Ivan ermolaevich was held in great respect among the soldiers and inhabitants of the village (Village Lebedevka, Chernihiv oblast, Ukraine), he had awards and medals but unfortunately they have not survived. I am very proud of my great-grandfather Sanikovym Ivan Ermolaevich
